19-year-old woman arrested for stabbing friend to death

Nakuru, Kenya: A 19-year old woman is being held at Rongai police station for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old woman in Kasarani village, Rongai Sub County.

Rongai police boss Joseph Mwamburi said the accused Ruth Wanjiku Njuguna, stabbed the deceased, Dorcas Chepchirchir on her left neck using a knife Tuesday night.

According to Mwamburi, the deceased went to the accused house after she learnt of disagreements between her friend and her brother over the price of a window he wanted to purchase.

"The accused is said to be a friend to the deceased. It is claimed the accused had proposed higher price for the window prompting the deceased to intervene," said Mwamburi.

After Chepchirchir arrived to help her brother in negotiating for a reduction  of price, the accused secretly went to her kitchen, picked a knife and stabbed her mercilessly claiming she was interfering with her business.

Neighbours rushed to rescue the deceased after hearing cries of help and rushed her to Afya Bora clinic where she died while undergoing treatment.

"The three picked a quarrel and within a short period, the deceased was tabbed causing her continuous bleeding that might have caused her death," Mwamburi added.

Mwamburi said police have commenced investigations to arraign the accused in court to face murder charge.
