Kilifi County’s 2014/15 budget is Sh7.3 billion

KILIFI COUNTY: The Kilifi County government has unveiled a budget of Sh7.3 billion for the 2014-2015 financial year, up from Sh6.3 billion approved for the 2013-2014 financial year.

According to the proposed budget, the county government expects to get Sh6.3 billion from the national government and to raise a billion shillings from local revenue.

The proposed budget has already been tabled at the county assembly in Malindi and been subjected to public debate.

BUDGETARY ALLOCATIONS

Of the budgeted amounts, Sh2.5 billion has been set aside for development projects cutting across all county departments while Sh4.7 billion is projected to cater for recurrent expenditure.

The health service docket has been allocated the highest amount at Sh1.4 billion, including Sh1.1 billion for recurrent expenditure and Sh309 million for projects.

Education, youth affairs and social development got the second highest allocation at Sh949 million, with Sh609 million for recurrent expenditure and Sh340 million for development.
