SCHOOLS: Giants stay strong as curtains fall on Kilifi games

Former national girls' hockey champions St. John's Kaloleni started their journey to reclaim the title on a positive note after they won the Kilifi County title over the weekend.

Kaloleni, who became the first girls school in Coast region in 2014 to win the national title, did not disappoint at the Kilifi Term One games after they won all their matches.

The champions defeated Jilore 3-0 to successfully retain the title and advance to the Coast region games, which will be held at the same venue from March 20-23.

On their way to the final, St John's stopped Bahari Girls 3-0, while Jilore edged out Dsitsoni 2-0.

St John's went ahead to win the girls' basketball title with a 36-7 drubbing of Ngala Girls in the final.

In the semi final, St John's beat Watala school 30-22, while Ngala hit Vonwald School 21-8.

In girls' handball, Dungicha retained the title after beating Kadzonzo 14-10 in a closely fought final.

In the semi-final Dungicha hit Cannon Kuri 30-5, while Kadzonzo beat Bungu School 19-9.

St George's Kaloleni recaptured the title after squeezing a narrow 1-0 win over Sokoke in the final.

St George's had defeated Malindi High 3-2, while Sokoke hit Barani 1-0 in the semi finals.

In boys' basketball, Barani School were declared champions after beating Chanagande 73-69 in an explosive final match 

Barani defeated Sokoke 51-26, while Chanagande dismissed Malindi High 50-32 in the semis.

Marafa School were crowned rugby champions after silencing Lutsangani 8-3 in the final.

Ganze Constituency claimed the overall athletics title after bagging 127 points, with Kaloleni and Malindi settling for the second and third positions with 120 and 108 points respectively.

Kaloleni Sonstituency won the boys' title with 85 points, while Malindi and Ganze had 65 and 59 points respectively.
