BEIJING: Google enhanced encryption for its Gmail service, according to an announcement made on Friday, so that customers’ data and private information will be protected from interception of the US National Security Agency (NSA).

The protection extension will ensure that Gmail users be exempt from being snooped as the data travels from their machines to Google’s data centres.
