Kisumu, Kenya: Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero has praised former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for brokering a leadership deal in the Orange party.

Speaking to the Standard in Kisumu on his way to Koru Girls High School where he will preside over a fundraiser today, Kidero said he briefly met Raila at the Kisumu International Airport and the two leaders briefly discussed about the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“I am happy that our leader is working hard to bring us together. We are a family and after the failed party elections we need to work together so that our enemies do not laugh at us,” Mr Kidero said.

He added, “Raila has fought for democracy and I thank him for bringing those who were vying for various posts together so that all can serve the party before fresh elections are held.”

Raila spearheaded negotiations that led to those who were vying for party positions in the bungled elections to share leadership positions in the party’s Transitional Interim Executive Committee (TIEC).

Kidero has been invited by Muhoroni MP Onyango K’Oyoo to preside over a harambee at Koru Girls High School to raise funds to construct the school’s laboratory.

Tomorrow he will be the chief guest in another harambee to raise funds for Kisumu Centre Juakali Association. Kidero will be hosted by Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura.
