All evictees’ camps to be shut down

Deputy President William Ruto said the government had resettled a large number of squatters from several water towers across the country and will ensure the remaining forest evictees’ camps are closed soon.

“We have already resettled forest squatters in Kieni, Mau, Teldet, Embobut and our next stop will be Kipkurere,” said Ruto. He said those also affected by the 2007/2008 post-election violence have received compensation to enable them kick-start their lives.

He said the government had set plans that would ensure those evicted from Kipkurere Forest in Nandi County are resettled soon.

Speaking in Marakwet East when he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta during the official closure of Embobut Forest evictees camp at Tangul Primary School, Ruto said the Jubilee government would ensure every Kenyan should feel proud of the country.
