More prominent leaders are coming out to declare their interest for the county government political seats.
The recent entrant into the race for governorship is the Minister for Fisheries Development Amason Kingi Jeffah. Mr Kingi, who is also the acting industrialisation minister and MP for Magarini, said he will contest for the seat.
The minister is the chairman of ODM for Kilifi County and is now urging the electorate in the county to register as party members to elect him to the seat.
Mr Kingi broke his silence over the matter in an exclusive interview with The County Weekly.
Other leaders who have declared their interest for the same post are assistant minister for Immigration Francis Baya, former Bahari MP John Safari Mumba, a lecturer at Pwani University Mwachiro Chenje and a businessman from Kaloleni, engineer John Lenga.
So far, no woman leader has come out to declare interest in the seat in Kilifi. Two women have however shown interest in the Senate. They are former deputy managing director of Kenya Airports Authority Naomi Cidi and Patience Chome, a board member of the National Development Fund for Persons with Disabilities.
They will battle it out with other male candidates who include a former Cabinet minister Noah Katana Ngala and former Magarini MP David Kombe.
