Angry mother-in-law has to feed groom at wedding after he gets too drunk to eat

A groom got so drunk on his wedding day he had to be spoon-fed by his unimpressed mother-in-law.

The sozzled newlywed from Scotland can barely keep his head up or eyes open as he nibbles on some salmon - with the help of his blushing bride's mum who lifts a plate up and guides the food into his mouth.

The groom - who hasn't been named - looks extremely worse for wear while sat in his shirt and waistcoat at the dinner table which is full of glasses.

At one point, some salmon dangles out his mouth and his mother-in-law has to shove it in as the speeches are taking place.

When she realises she is being filmed she gives a very sarcastic thumbs up to the camera.

But despite the groom appearing to be in an awful state, the ceremony and speeches went smoothly.

And he apparently made a miraculous recovery and danced the night away.

The groom told LADbible: "I had a few beers and glasses of fizz before this but I think a big factor for the drunkenness was the emotion from the day. I had just completed my speech and everything hit me.

"The woman feeding me is my mother-in-law who is the best mother-in-law in the world. Before the video, I got married but was in good shape, during the ceremony which we spoke our own vows.

"After the ceremony, we had about two hours of free booze and it was fairly hot for Scotland with the sun shining on us at our amazing wedding location."

He added that he has nursed back to 'fine fettle' thanks to some 'tough love' from his nearest and dearest. This included being plied with water, before being slapped in the face to stop him from going into 'the land of sleep'.

When that failed, they resorted to splashing water on his face and after 20 to 30 minutes he said he woke up.

He then went for some alone time and started walking up a hill, but was persuaded to return to the wedding venue and tuck into some more food.

He has credited his best man, usher, and wife - who is his "best friend in this world" - for his recovery.

And he was even able to enjoy his first dance with his new Mrs before cutting their wedding cake, which was tequila shots in the shape of a cake.

His bride, luckily, saw the funny side and they've had a chuckle at his stupidity.

But the groom admitted the video is "highly embarrassing" and would have been even worse had he not made a comeback.
