Church has a role to play in instilling discipline on students says governor

Nakuru county Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said that the church has a huge role to play in stemming the rising levels of indiscipline which has resulted in students razing down schools.

While speaking at the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Shabab in Nakuru West Sub-County, Mr. Kinuthia said that discipline levels in schools is worrying  but noted that the society was looking up to the church for direction.

“Indiscipline in our schools is a matter of a great worry and the church should make it one of its agendum and I urge the churches to take the lead in this battle.” He said.

The governor added, “In the late 1990s when the nation faced a similar challenge, the nation looked up to the church and it provided a solution.”

Mr. Kinuthia noted the important role that AIC church is playing in education, health, and water sectors.

The governor’s sentiments come days after three more schools were razed throughout the country raising concern that it appears education stakeholders have failed to come up with a solution to the ongoing wave of fires in schools across the country.

An elder of AIC, Bidii Arap Too and a known politician in Nakuru region thanked the governor for expressing confidence to work with AIC and other churches for the sake of nurturing peace and development in the county.
