Wangari spoke to me last week. She openly laments at how difficult it is for Kenyan women to find a good man to marry in the diaspora. In her words “Kenyan men in diaspora are not ready to settle down. They only want one night stands”. Wangari’s sentiments are true! Kenyan men in diaspora are a ravenous bunch of animals with an instinct for the next conquest when dealing with women. So how can a Kenyan woman find love in the diaspora? I have five simple tips!
Stop waiting to exhale. Live your life. Kenyan women in diaspora have excessive expectations on the men they want to date or marry. While one need not lower their expectations in a future mate, a good dose of reality will go a long way in meeting Mr. Right! Expecting to date a millionaire movie star is not realistic. Ultimately what matters is finding a man that has his priorities straight and has a job. The rest of the issues can be worked on progressively over time.
