Nzoia United stun Vihiga United in an explosive Derby

National Super League leaders Nzoia Sugar Fc yesterday overcame a hard fighting Vihiga United 2-0 in a match played at Sudi Stadium, Bungoma County.

Lawrence Juma opened the scoring on 30th minute after being handed a delicious pass by industrious Likes Namanda. Vihiga tried to equalize but their efforts were thwarted by a strong Nzoia defense led by Brian Otieno.

Vihiga United ship sunk in the second half after Lawrence Juma caught Vihiga United sleeper unawares with a long ball to make it 2 nil on 70th minute. The Western Derby billed to the expectation; the drama as expected was plenty, Nzoia Fc Captain Vincent Ngesa was red carded after an altercation with the referee.

Thousands of football lovers graced the occasion with Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga leading a battalion of Vihiga fans. Nzoia Fc now cements position one with 74 points after 29 unbeaten rounds opening a 15 point gap.
