Duo in Sh576m ivory case face more charges

The State is considering charging two suspected ivory smugglers with new charges of trafficking ivory worth Sh100 million seized in Vietnam three years ago.

Senior Director of Public Prosecutions Alex Jamii said Jacob Musa and David Mwaroli, who were on Friday enjoined in the case of Nelson Ayoo, James Nyala and Fredrick Munguli are likely to be charged in another case in which Ayoo, Nyala and Munguli are facing charges of trafficking the ivory seized in Vietnam.

The two are facing charges of trafficking in ivory worth Sh576 million. Jamii told Mombasa Chief Magistrate Julius Nangea that although Musa and Mwaroli were witnesses in the Vietnam case, there is emerging evidence that they may have been involved in the Vietnam ivory trafficking case.
