Kaimenyi gets support over elders 'curse'

The Phares Ruteere-led faction of the Njuri Ncheke Supreme Council of Ameru elders Thursday came out in support of Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi and accused the Linus Kathera-led faction of belittling and showing disrespect to the CS.

Mr Ruteere, who is also the chairman of the National Council of Elders, said their rivals had desecrated the Nchiru Shrine headquarters by congregating there to curse Prof Kaimenyi.

"When you go to Nchiru to curse and insult one of the community's sons, you are not for the best interests of the community. Let us respect leaders of the community," said Mr Ruteere.

Ruteere, who was accompanied by the chairman of his faction Paul M'Ithinkia, said the curse on Kaimenyi is ineffective.

"As elders we bless our children, we do not curse them. We are the Njuri Ncheke of the Ameru, and we protect our own rather than try to destroy them," said Ruteere.

Joshua Ncebere, who chairs the Igembe North elders group, said they will revoke the curse made on Kaimenyi.
