A Njuri Ncheke faction led by Linus Kathera has vowed to push for removal of Education Cabinet Secretary Prof Jacob Kaimenyi.

Only a day after the faction held a ceremony to confer a traditional curse on the CS, the elders now say he is unacceptable as a national leader after losing legitimacy at home.

Prof Kaimenyi attracted the group's wrath after he completely ignored its leadership during a public function presided over by Deputy President William Ruto last month.

The Kathera-led faction has been embroiled in a power struggle with long serving Chairman Paul M'Ethinkia and Secretary General Phares Ruteere and they accuse the CS of taking sides in the dispute.

"We are not taking it lightly that for the first time in the history of the Njuri Ncheke going several decades, a public servant has publicly mocked the Njuri Ncheke and sought to lower its dignity in the eyes of our people," said faction's Secretary General Josphat Murangiri.
