Suspected conman chained to cart and forced to wheel it around Nyeri streets

Nyeri, Kenya: Residents of Nyeri Town on Tuesday subjected a suspected conman to a rare form of punishment.

Peter Maina, who was accused of conning a college student Sh15, 000 school fees, was arrested and chained to a cart loaded with a huge and heavy stone.

He was then forced to wheel it around the streets of Nyeri Town for several hours as he endured whipping from angry residents.

According to the student, Maina and his accomplice approached him claiming they could double his money.

The said the two immediately disappeared after he handed them the money. The student mobilised other youth, who tracked down the suspect.

After several hours of severe punishment, he was whisked away by Administration Police Officers on patrol and was taken to Nyeri Police Station.
