Dr Julius Kones dismisses Pesa Mashinani initiative

Sotik, Kenya: National Water and Pipeline Cooperation chairman Dr Julius Kones has said the referendum push by the Council of Governors is a "non starter".

Speaking at a fund raiser to support Kimolwet Africa Inland Church in Sotik, Kones said its regrettable that the governors and other leaders supporting the initiate have chosen to work in cahoots with CORD.

"Some of these Jubilee politicians supporting referendum are working behind the scenes to rock their party from within because CORD has promised to give them top positions if they assist the latter ascend to Presidency come 2017," Kones said.

He urged the governors to stop frustrating the President and his deputy's efforts and instead allow them to implement pledges they made ahead of the last General Election.

Dr Kones urged the Bomet Governor and chair of the Council of Governors, Isaac Ruto, to honour the summons by Senate.
