Civilian shoots gangster dead in robbery incident

A  civilian licensed gun holder shot and killed a suspected armed gangster inside his house at Kitengela, Kajiado County on Saturday night.

Caleb Radido of Spectrum Security Company also injured two of the gangsters who had entered his house at midnight.

Four men allegedly armed with a pistol entered Mr Radido’s home at Muigai estate, two kilometres from Kitengela town.

The suspected thugs gained entry after cutting the widow grills at the front of his four-bed roomed house.

“They came straight to my bedroom and I was lucky to be awake after I heard my dogs backing,’’ said Mr Radido.

He said the one with the gun had shot at him two times before reaching where he had kept his gun.

“When I shot dead the one with the gun, the others panicked and started running away. I shot two others but they managed to run away with wounds,’’ he said.

Kajiado County Commander Joel Langat praised the man for his courage. He said the dead gangster has been identified as one of the criminals who were being sought by the police in the county.

Two weeks ago another gun wielding man was arrested by the police in the area after a tip off by members of the public.

He was, at some point, forced to hide in a church after a one-hour chase with the police and members of the public.

“This is one of the men we have been looking for. He has been terrorising residents in various towns in this county,’’ said Mr Langat.
