School head in 'sex scandal' sent packing

The Ministry of Education has now suspended a head teacher of a primary school in Naivasha accused of molesting close to 50 pupils.

The teacher was sent home a day after over 200 irate parents stormed the institution and threatened to lynch him.

Naivasha Sub-county Staffing Officer Winnie Strong said the teacher had been advised to stay away from the school until investigations into the matter are over but defied the order. "We visited the school last week and we were already preparing our report," she said.

The education officer said learning had resumed at the school and a new head teacher would soon be posted to the institution.

It also emerged that none of the victims has reported the alleged sexual molestation to the police.

"The issue has not been reported to any police station but we are ready to take action once we receive the complaints," said a senior police officer who declined to be named.

Meanwhile, the head-teacher of Loldia Primary School in Kasarani Naivasha where a Class Five student committed suicide two months ago has been transferred.
