Nairobi, Kenya: A body of a police officer was Tuesday morning found hanging on a tree at the Central Park, Nairobi.

The police constable is attached to the anti stock theft unit at Garbatula in Isiolo. Records show he was supposed to be at the work station.

It's not clear if he committed suicide or he was killed and hanged there. Central OCPD Paul Wanjama said they recovered documents from the deceased's body to confirm he is a police officer. Wanjama who was accompanied by DCIO Richard Bitok added investigations into the incident.

"We do not know where he was from or what happened to lead to this. All I can confirm is that the deceased is a police officer," said Wanjama.

He added pedestrians called to say the body was hanging there.

Other officers suspect he had gone to seek a loan at their Sacco near the park and when he was informed he could not get it, he decided to commit suicide.

His body was hanging on a rope that had been tied with a piece of clothe.

The body was moved to the mortuary.

Police are poorly remunerated which many can attribute to the situation.
