Nairobi, Kenya: The body of an Italian priest who had been sick was Wednesday night found under his bed at the Consolata Guest House in Westlands, Nairobi.

Police declared the death of father Otto Myer, 70, as sudden saying he had been sick for a few days before the discovery of the body.

Nairobi county police boss Benson Kibue said his death was sudden.

“We do not want to speculate about his death which we for now see as sudden but a post mortem exercise will be carried out on the body to establish the exact cause of the death,” said Kibue.

Officers who visited the scene said they found assorted drugs and alcohol in his room before transferring the body to the mortuary.

The priest had earlier on Tuesday visited a city hospital where he picked up drugs.

His neighbours said he had been sickly.
