Guinea begin search for new manager

Guinea have begun the search for a new manager to replace Luis Fernandez who has stood down after only 13 months in the post.

The Frenchman, who replaced his compatriot Michel Dussuyer in April 2015, resigned in May after Guinea failed to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Whoever is appointed will have one main objective - to ensure the Syli National's qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals.

The Guinea football federation said it had "started a search for candidates for the recruitment of a top quality manager".

Fernandez, who won Euro 1984 with France and counts Paris Saint-Germain among the many clubs he has managed, has reached an amicable settlement with his employers, a source at the federation reported.

Until a new manager is in place Mohamed Lappe Bangoura will assume caretaker responsibilities.
