Manchester United are keen on Bonucci deal as Rooney extend contract

Leonardo Bonucci

Jose Mourinho is keen to land Italy ace Leonardo Bonucci this summer.

It is believed that the Juventus defender is one of the men on the Portuguese's shortlist as he continues his revamp of the club's defence.

Mourinho has already confirmed the signing of Eric Bailly from Villarreal but he wants further reinforcements to help lead United back into the top four.

Bonucci, 29, has been impressing as Juventus continue their domination of Serie A, while he has proven to be a rock at the heart of the Italy defence at Euro 2016, keeping two clean sheets out of two.

Meanwhile, new midfield ace Rooney is set for a contract extension at Old Trafford, according to reports

Wayne Rooney is set to sign a new contract to ensure that he can finish his career with Manchester United, according to the Sun on Sunday.

The captain has impressed United bosses with his forays into midfield for both club and country and is reportedly keen on seeing out the rest of his career as Old Trafford's midfield maestro.

Rooney has three years left on his current contract but believes that he can remain in the United team beyond that period.

New boss Mourinho is set to keep Rooney as his club captain and give him time to show what he can do in the middle of the park.
