Kenya is planning to host a three-day national sports conference this year, if former sprinter Tirus Odhiambo’s plans succeed.
Odhiambo, who runs a sports mentoring programme for kids in Eastlands’ Umoja Estate, Nairobi said the conference’s main agenda will be to address the problems affecting the sporting industry in the country.
“Plans are underway to organise a national sports conference to discuss the issues affecting our sports from athletics to football. Kenya is known to be a sporting nation, but a lot has been happening killing the talent,” said Odhiambo.
If all goes on as planned, the conference will involve all the local federations, athletes, government, corporates, global legends and international sports associations. We urge the government, sponsors and well-wishers to come on board and support this noble initiative.”
