Mexico striker Alan Pulido has been rescued following a dramatic kidnapping ordeal.

Local media report the 25-year-old was taken by armed kidnappers outside a restaurant in his hometown of Ciudad Victoria, in the northern state of Tamaulipas, in the early hours of Sunday morning, where he had been attending a party.

Pulido currently plays for Olympiakos in the Greek league and was back in his home country following the end of their season.

But after an extensive search security forces located and rescued the 25-year-old late on Sunday.

"Well, well thank God," Pulido said after being quizzed on his ordeal.

He has won six caps for the Mexican national team , scoring four goals, but he hasn't been included in their Copa America squad.

Pulido's girlfiend was also reportedly taken but was later released by the kidnappers.
