Sotik MP Joyce Laboso has told Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to stop insulting Deputy President William Ruto.

Dr Laboso accused the governor of launching personal attacks against the DP instead of selling his newly launched Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party to the people.

"It is unfortunate the governor prefers to insult the DP whenever he addresses the public or while opening his party's offices. Why can't he concentrate on selling his policies to the electorate," said Laboso.

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly who spoke at Goitab Silibwet Secondary School in Chepalungu further said: "The governor's style of politics is a threat to the unity and harmony of our people."

She accused the governor of inciting his supporters against perceived opponents. She said everyone has a right to join a party of his choice and told Ruto to stop insulting those who do not subscribe to his political views.

"It is regrettable that instead of preaching unity among Kenyans, the governor is busy sowing seeds of discord. It is surprising at this time and age people would use insults to advance their political agenda," said Laboso, who has declared interest in the Bomet governor's seat in next year's elections.

Laboso, who will be taking on Ruto on a Jubilee ticket, has also warned those opposed to the ruling coalition of tough times ahead.

"It is an open secret that things will not be easy for those opposed to the Jubilee administration in their efforts to defend their seats. Reality will soon hit them and before they know it, their seats will be gone," she added.

Chepalungu MP Paul Bii accused the governor of constant politicking, adding that his efforts to sell his party will fail.

Bii warned Nyangores MCA Andrew Maritim, who was elected on CCM ticket during a by-election in February, to rethink his political future.

"You may have won in the by-election on a CCM ticket. However, it will not be easy for you to defend the seat unless you switch parties. Consider this as free advice from your MP," said Bii.
