Babu Owino: Cartels behind school fires

Vocal University of Nairobi student leader Babu Owino who is eying the Embakasi East political seat now thinks there is a cartel behind the ongoing burning of schools and has called on the government to intervene immediately to stop the arson.
“Boarding schools around the country have been hit by a storm of violent unprecedented fires and we as the student fraternity are wondering why it is taking too long to bring this mess to a stop. Burning of schools undermines the right to basic education,” Babu told Pulse.

“The diligence and hard work of teachers and parents as well as other relevant authorities towards the identification and reduction of arson should be recognised and supported by everyone. I am calling upon the government to put a stop to this fiasco and protect future generations,” he added.
