Head teacher defends school's decision to expel three siblings

The head teacher of German School Nairobi has defended the institution against allegations of wrongfully expelling three minors.

Ulrich Boddenberg told the court the minors were expelled after their parent made damaging allegations against a teacher and himself.

The teacher, the head teacher stated in a sworn affidavit, was accused of sexually abusing one of the children while he was accused of being racist.

The mother of the three children went to court last week and sued the school for expelling her children aged 10, seven and six years. She wants the High Court to compel the school to readmit the children.

LACKED ATTENTION

The head teacher told the court teachers had observed that one of the minors appeared disturbed and lacked parental attention.

He further said the children were picked from school by people unknown to the school on several occasions, which is against school policy.

She said she had complained of incidents including one where her son said the class teacher kept on hugging and touching one of them.

High Court Judge Mumbi Ngugi will issue her ruling on the matter on May 19.
