Teachers ask Wilson Sossion to declare strike

Teachers in Bomet want the Kenya National Union of Teachers to call off negotiations with the Government and declare a strike.

Led by Bomet Knut executive secretary Malel Langat, the teachers said their patience had run out after fruitless negotiations.

“We cannot eat negotiations and we are tired of continuous talks, which do not bear fruits and, therefore, Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion, should declare the strike immediately to compel the Government to listen to our demands,” said Langat.

“We know what we want and we have no time to waste with endless talks, and we must take action and down our tools to compel the Government to act,” said Langat.

He spoke at Shalom Deliverance Church in Bomet town during a ceremony where cheques worth Sh4 million were awarded to 88 retired teachers.

He said the Government is known to playing hard ball against teachers when they are championing for their demands.
