Bomet teachers ask Sossion to declare strike

BOMET, KENYA: Teachers in Bomet want the Kenya National Union of Teachers to call off negotiation with the government and declare a strike.
Led by Bomet KNUT Executive Secretary Malel Langat, the teachers said their patients had run out with fruitless negotiation.
They expressed fear that the government could be using the continuous negotiations which do not yield any fruit as a gimmick to buy time.
"We cannot eat negotiations and we are tired with continuous negotiations which do not bear fruits and therefore KNUT Secretary general should declare the strike immediately to compel the government to yield to our demands," said Langat.
He said as members they are reading mischief from the negotiation which is dragging on without a tint of a light at the end of the tunnel
"We as KNUT know what we want and we have no time to waste with endless talks but take action and down our tools to compel the government to act," said Langat.
He spoke at Shalom Deliverance Church in Bomet town during a ceremony to award KNUT retirees cheques where he was accompanied by Branch Chairman Francis Tonui and Sotik Branch executive Secretary Mathias Langat.
