Are Indians really that mean or it’s just a stereotype?

People have different perceptions about different communities.

In most cases, people will judge you according to your community, which is wrong.

Indians suffer the most when it comes to stereotypes.

Recently, a pal of mine confessed what she believes is the honest truth about Indians. She claimed Indians are arrogant, mean and discriminative.

“Indians generally wana dharau!” she said.

Angry, I asked her to explain what exactly she meant.

“Well, I have had many bad experiences with them. We once had an Indian neighbour who would always bring us leftover food that had stayed in the fridge for three to four days. I couldn’t stand the smell. He would act all friendly like he was not aware the food was stale,” she said.

She was not done ranting.

“They also talk a lot in their mother tongue when in the company of other non-Indians. From their giggling, you can tell they are gossiping,” she added.

Do Indians really do this?

Nonetheless, I cannot deny that Indians have the habit of switching to mother tongue regardless of the people around them.

I have been a victim.

Whenever I am with my cousin, she will start speaking in Gujarati, yet I am with my friends who are non-Indians.

Well, I bet it is time Indians changed that script.
