A suspected pedophile was rescued from an angry mob that accused him of defiling children in Kawangware.
Police saved Aggrey Kavali from being lynched after three victims allegedly confessed to having been sexually abused by the 46-year-old security guard.
Two of the girls are aged three and five years, while the boy is three years old.
Shavala allegedly defiled the children on diverse dates before he was unmasked after the elder girl confessed on July 20, following queries from the mum who noticed she had difficulties in walking.
“When she was prodded, she disclosed what had been happening to the three of them. This is when we mobilized the community and stormed into the house of the suspect,” said Ann Wambui, the mother of the boy while at Muthangari Police Station where Shavala was being held.
The children were brought to the station after being examined at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital as the suspect was interrogated after vehemently denying the charge.
He was accused of luring the children with sweets and fruits before defiling them.
“It is alleged that the boy was sodomised while the girls were raped, but these are claims we are investigating,” said Dagoretti OCPD Rashid Mohamed on July 21.
