The doping fiasco in athletics has become an embarrassment to Kenya, which now risks losing it credibility on the world stage.
You see, Kenya is a superpower in athletics and as the number of athletes getting caught in the scam rises, our reputation is fast going down the drain.
The list of those who are being banned or investigated because of doping is growing alarmingly fast. And we are doing nothing about it, with Athletics Kenya (AK) seemingly fanning the saga if recent reports in the media are anything to go by.
We must fix this doping menace once and for all or we perish. If the circus continues, soon, and very soon, our athletes will not be invited on global events like the Boston and London Marathon, much worse the Olympics. Who would want to compete with cheats?
AK chair Isaiah Kiplagat and his team must get their acts together if they want to have moral authority to continue sitting in their big offices.
For the Love of the Game fears that they will not, which means that athletics may just go the way rugby and football have gone – to the dogs.
That means loss of careers, livelihoods and international glory for our country? Anyway, who cares?
