You post a photo of the guy you were hanging out with during the party last night on your Facebook page and your mum comments:

“Beautiful, the guy is hot.”

“You can actually meet him. We can hang out with him and his pals next Friday,” daughter says to the delight of the mother who from then becomes part of the Facebook clique in question. She is not just a mum, she is your BFF.

We are in an era where mums and dads have their showbiz daughters and sons as their best friends. They hang out at social events together, shop together and tell each other everything.

It is a cool thing when mum supports your showbiz endeavours. Even then, some may question where the line should be drawn when it comes to becoming your showbiz child’s confidant.

Erica and mum Ciku Muiruri

Ciku Muriuri, the outspoken media personality and radio presenter is very close with her daughter Erica; who recently graduated from high school with straight A’s.

Ciku and Erica are best friends and it is rather adorable seeing them chat and laugh together in public like BFFs. The celebrity mum has been vocal about her daughter’s charity mission that saw her meet the First Lady Margret Kenyatta for support.

A single mother, Ciku has also gone public defending her decision to ‘loc’ her daughter’s hair. The two have been spotted together laughing away the good times.

Milan, Shaffie and Debbie

Every time they hang out together, they always pose like this enviable showbiz trio. Milan, the beautiful daughter to celebrities Shaffie and Debbie is now hitting the limelight thanks to her parents who are teaching her the ropes of being a celeb. They hit the red carpet together and she enjoys all the VIP treatment her celebrity parents are treated to.

Makenna and mum Esther Passaris

Makenna, the teenage daughter of Esther Passaris, is another case in point. Esther, the beautiful and charismatic business lady, is making a much appreciated contribution to national politics. But young Makenna, who is studying in London, decided to go in an entirely different direction. About two years ago she returned to Kenya for her stage debut as a musical artiste at a concert by her long time favourite, Akon, with the full support of her mum, who gave away free tickets for the concert to random Facebook fans. And in a very sweet way, Esther also features in Makenna’s debut single Yes, No, Definitely, which she sponsored.

Lois Hannigan and her sweet mum

KTN’s Yolo presenter Lois Hannigan is one of the most adored young showbiz TV presenters right now. She is hot, sexy and styled. And the same can be said about her young mum who is confused for her girlfriend every time she accompanies her showbiz daughter to social events. Loise and her mom are a perfect case of a sweetness and beauty overload. A very liberal mom by Kenyan standards, the two have been spotted partying and getting tattoos together and exchanging very intimate comments on their social media pages.

Ruth Matete and her daddy

There is also former Tusker Project Fame winner Ruth Matete, who is always hanging out with her father, who partly manages her singing career.

And now, almost two years after her regional triumph, her first release Nakupenda, is finally on sale. Her Father has been with her through the triumphs to her painful public breakup from her boyfriend and fiancé. Ruth and her dad are definitely showbiz sweethearts.

Muhoho Kenyatta and the First Lady

The president’s son managed to get his mother Margaret Kenyatta on the runway recently as he showcased his designs at a Nairobi hotel.

Many were happy to see the First Lady come out to support her son’s fashion career and she has recently been rocking her sons designs to public functions.

Marcus and his mother Suzanne

Marcus Kibukosya who goes by the stage name K Cous is the son of showbiz legend Suzanne Gachukia. Suzanne is the perfect blend of mom and manager, commonly referred to as ‘momager’. She handles her son’s singing career and always hangs out with him and his friends like a friend. She is a darling to Marcus’ singing girlfriend Tiri, whom she is also mentoring.

Michelle and mum Esther Wahome

You know this new hot girl in town, Michelle Mumbi, now the lead character on Angel’s Diary, a series that airs on KBC. She is the gorgeous daughter of celebrated gospel singer Esther Wahome who was her inspiration to join the showbiz industry. See them hit the red carpet and you will think they are best friends.

Sarah Karay and mum

The young designer has her mum behind her current success thanks to all the publicity she does for her as her manager. The USIU student and her mum are best friends. Meanwhile, Octopizzo who is always hanging out with his daughter could be taking the same direction.
