Tamima Ibrahim aka Miss Tamima is a TV host and media personality tells us more about her style and looks she loves styling.
Pulse: You looked great at the MCSK Gala. What inspired your look?
Miss Tamima: Thank you. The goal was to put together looks that were chic, glamorous, vivacious and made in Kenya.
P: Who dressed you for the event?
TI: I collaborated with a fantastic Kenyan designer, Sheena C, who was able to pull off all three looks effortlessly. Every single outfit is part of her collection.
P: How would you rate Kenyan fashion designers at the moment?
TI: Kenyan fashion designers are super talented and deserve a bigger platform. That’s why it was so important for me to wear outfits made by a Kenyan designer. Buy Kenya, Build Kenya.
P: What inspires your individual style?
TI: When I am onscreen I love feminine looks, especially form-fitting dresses and pants. When I am out and about, I am more of a jeans-and-tee kind of chic.
P: When did you start caring about your fashion?
TI: Being on screen in front of millions of people, it kind of comes with the territory. I enjoy the process of putting together different looks, plus it’s a huge confidence booster.
P: What fashion items can’t you live without?
TI: My skin moisturiser, I swear by Simple skin products and Black Opal make-up. And of course a pair of heels; you never know when you may need them!
P: Are local celebrities embracing local designers?
TI: Increasingly they are, after all music, TV and entertainment have a very symbiotic relationship with fashion. The sooner the local designers realise this and collaborate with personalities, the more the fashion industry will grow.
P: What steps should be taken to promote local designs better?
TI: No one will ever buy something that they have never seen. I would encourage designers to be aggressive in having their work seen.
P: Your current favourite wardrobe staple is?
TI: I love feminine cuts in dresses, skirts, form fitting tops and bottoms as well, paired with a comfortable pair of heels.
P: Where do you shop?
TI: Everywhere. Seriously. I do not discriminate as long as it’s hot and affordable. However, for big occasions I now enjoy custom designed outfits.
P: Your fashion weakness item is?
TI: Right now, wedge sneakers! They are so chic and comfortable at the same time.
P: Your style motto is?
T.I Dress how you want to be addressed.
