A woman who was stripped naked in the middle of town has become the center of attention after it was caught on video and has been doing rounds on social media.
The incident which happened in Nairobi’s Kenya National Archives at the Embassava bus stop, was orchestrated by men who sought to teach the victim a lesson for being indecently dressed.
The unfortunate event was highlighted on one of the local news bulletin and has been a hot topic on many platforms including radio shows.
On Twitter, a war has been raging between blogger Robert Alai and founder/chair of Adopt-A- Light project, Esther Passaris.
Following the stripping incident, Passaris has been vocal in rallying for protection of women against such violation of rights.
In one of her tweets she said, “Where do we draw the line? She is semi-nude. Strip her? What next? She is indecently dressed.Rape her? @IGkimaiyo Please protect our women.”
Alai on the other hand declared, “You dress scantily I will either personally undress you or sponsor your undressing. Let’s not be pretenders here #ScantilyDressed.
The responses to that conversation are sadly too graphic and crude to be published on this platform.
It has however raised the question; to strip an ‘indecently’ dressed lady or to give her a cloth to cover her ‘nakedness’
