After a long break from active showbiz, the once giant hip-hop group Kalamashaka have finally broken their silence with yet another ingenious song titled Moi Avenue.
Their style of picking up a topic and rhyming about it in this well-scripted music video is commendable. Just like the name suggests, entire scenes in the video are shot on the popular Nairobi street.
Directed by The Storyteller the video is average, simple yet alluring from its initial scenes to the end. Moi Avenue, their re-debut single is off their forthcoming album titled Rebirth slated to be released later next month.
The decision to shoot the clip entirely in black and white, worked out well in bringing out the hip-hop feel of the song. Another interesting feature in the video is how the editing is done; this is informed by the smooth transitions.
The variety of scenes in the video has also helped break the monotony synonymous with over used scenes. The flickering images and the dancers also worked well. The members of the legendary Kalamashaka hip-hop group include Kamau Ngigi, Johnnie Vigeti, and Robert Matumbai.
