Chantelle and the joys of being pregnant

Features

On Monday at around 6am, a heavy Chantelle was taking her routine morning jogging exercise at the ridges of her Kileleshwa leafy suburbs when we caught up with her.

Her earphones were on, some gospel worship tunes churning from her android device.

This has been her routine, a keep fit exercise she started about a year ago just after she moved in with her celebrated producer boyfriend J Blessing. And it is not just an exercise routine. It is an inspiration hour during which she internalises on her spiritual life. Now, this is the same Chantelle, the star behind that raunchy Tokelezea video whose life has experienced a dramatic turn around since she got hitched to the established rich hunk who any girl would die for.

And yes, it is true she saw the light and has quit the night life together with smoking and drinking, two habits she seemed being addicted to before gaining her new clean girl character.

“I jog every morning. I have been doing this for months,” she tells Pulse on this morning.

“My husband has been away in the United States for almost a month and the first thing I do every morning is to chat with him as he is my prayer and encouragement partner. We just talked some minutes ago,” she says with a tinge blossom, a wave of joy splashing through her enviable sweet face.

“I am having a beautiful pregnancy. It is getting me more beautiful by the day. It is just awesome being at the place I am in my life,” she notes, joking of her current skin glow and extra hyper personality that she has embraced since her pregnancy started.

For the first time since the rumours of her pregnancy started with Pulse confirming the news through J Blessing three weeks ago, the rather social and happy-go singer and actress who is now concentrating on helping the growth of her husband’s Link Entertainment stable empire publically appeared in public on Sunday during the Nairobi hosted Mwafaka Awards looking happy with her baby bump

Donning a laced-neck poker dots elaborate black dress, she graced the red carpet and stayed easy with paparazzi and her fans whom she gave sweet glances stealing the show in an otherwise glitz gala evening.

“My husband was the first one to come out and announce that we are expecting our first baby and I think he said it all. We are happy as a couple and thank God for the blessing in the making,” Chantelle told Pulse, he first pregnancy talk ever since the news hit the streets.

“Like my husband said, we have nothing to hide and we have always confirmed everything through Pulse wherever anyone raised questions about our showbiz and private affair.

The problem with some publications is that they go ahead and publish distorting information about us and generally other celebs even when we were ready to shed light on the truth. We have always been available for interviews...especially with credible media,” she added.

“I am doing everything I can to stay in good shape. That includes a thorough exercising regime and feeding discipline.

I am watching every health regulation to make sure everything goes on well,” she adds. Does that mean she is scared of compromising her beautiful figure?

“J Blessing always wanted me to add a little weight as I was really slim when we met. That I have. It is not like I would sit here all day worrying about looks and so on. I simply want to keep a health look,” she clarifies. So when do we expect the baby?

“Honestly, for now, I wouldn’t give the right answer on that until I consult my doctor on the matter. I will be seeing him later in the week and you surely will be the first ones to know,” she remarks. “The truth is that the baby will be here early next year, not this year,” she adds, that to technically dispel rumours that she is due soon.

“The baby is feeding a lot and that is why the bump is looking a little too big. My skin is smoothening every new day and I can even do without make up and look real good. Fun...isn’t it,” she teases. So until Pulse reveals, you can keep guessing...she is four months...five months...whatever! For now, the thing is Ka-Chantelle kanatokelezea!
