Of the Uptight girl and a boring date

Ella was a boring date. He tells me. I am surprised because for the last two weeks he has only described her as being ten different kinds of amazing. There is a reason Ella avoids clubbing with boys she likes. She gives them time to like her and sometimes they are not put off but more often than not the disco scene is the death of the flirtation. Even after seven years in Kenya, she still does not understand why this is considered dancing. She is really fun for those who make it past the first disastrous clubbing date. But Michael is not one of those. Like most men he has found explanations for why he won't date a girl who can't dance. In her defence Ella is really rhythmic. But I know none of them are the real reason. He probably does not know the real reason. Michael is a typical Nairobi boy, born and bred. For entertainment he relies on PlayStation, alcohol and the company of friends. For him the club scene is about debauchery. Had they gone on a group date with his friends around so they could kid and chat together, it might have been a fun date. However it was just them two. Never having learnt how to entertain himself, Michael expects his date to provide the entertainment.
