Trapped! at Alliance Française

Festival of Creative Arts presents a hilarious adults only comedy dubbed Trapped! at Alliance Française, Nairobi this weekend starting today. The play is a romantic fling directed by Mbeki Mwalimu and features a cast consisting of Nick Ndeda, Maina Olwenya, Yvonne Carter, Lulu Wilson, Henry Gitau Ngogoyo, Wangari Gioche, Janet Kirina, Rosemary Waweru, Derrick Amunga and Johnson Chege. Charges are Sh500.

Concert at Michael Joseph Centre

Dalmas and Pamoja Dance Group present a concert dance piece dubbed Je vous aime aussi at Michael Joseph Centre next Thursday. The event revolves around love and features performances from five dancers; two physically challenged and three able bodied sharing the stage to narrate a story about love between the “physically challenged” people and the “able bodied”. The proceedings obtained from this performance goes to The Action Foundation. Charges are Sh500. 

Jua Kali Exhibition at Kuona

The Jua Kali exhibition by photographer Tahir Karmali, Dennis Muarguri and Tonney Mugo is an art exhibition that showcases the journey of an artisan into self-creation. It highlights the core values of curating ones life experiences to generate a perceived self-image. The exhibition goes down at Kuona Trust in Hurlingham this coming Thursday.

Lusophone Film Festival

The Lusophone Film Festival is a platform that showcases the diversity of film production in eight Portuguese-speaking countries spread across 4 continents. This month’s edition, and its fifth session focuses on animations from the Portuguese-speaking world. Some of the animations being highlighted include: Giant, Julio Vanzeler and Luis da Matta Almeida, the Tortoise, Pedro Lino and Luis da Matta Almeida, The Brats and the Toy Thief, Nildo Essá among others. The festival goes down at Goethe Institut this weekend. 

Threat Band at Choices

Roots International presents Threat Band, one of Kenya’s premier eclectic bands as they headline the popular concert series Thursday Nite Live at Choices pub next Thursday. The band has been known for  playing a crucial role in making of top acts in the music industry including: Juliani, Neema Ntalel and Kanjii Mbugua, Suzanna Owiyo, Aaron Rimbui, Kaima Mwiti, Jaguar, Wahu, Habida, Jua Kali among others. Also enjoy a riveting adult comedy series, featuring the top comedians courtesy of comedy outfit Kenya Kona this and every Monday at the venue. There is plenty of music and drinks in-between the breaks as the show goes all night.

Sugar for Hiphop Hook Up

This month’s edition of the underground hip hop concert, the Hip Hop Hook Up, goes down at Sarakasi Dome tomorrow afternoon. This edition recognizes and celebrates the female emcees in the Kenyan hiphop scene and features performances from: L Ness, Samantha M-ill, Latisha, Sugar, Mc Sharon, Tizziana with hosts Smallz Lethal and Nafsi Huru.

The Pit at Pawa 254

The Pit, a strictly underground hip hop concert series, goes down at Pawa 254, Nairobi tomorrow. The event features performances from DJs Khenti the Fonky Monk, Middle East and Swarm. There will be graffiti representations by Wise Two and Swift 9.

Miss Kitengela at Club 360

Club 360 in Kitengela and Wheels Entertainment present the Miss Kitengela 2014 tonight at the venue. Wilko, Chabush Izzo, Needah Diva, Raz Emmoh, DJs Bash, Leskie are the headline acts. Regular tickets are Sh300 and Sh1,000 for VIP.

Oliver Twist Musical at Oshwal

Potterhouse School presents Oliver Twist a one of a kind musical play based on the fairy tale of Oliver who is sold to the highest bidder after asking for more food at his orphanage. Thereafter he escapes to London and taken in by Fagin and joins his child pickpockets. The plot continues to thicken as the play goes on. The play goes down at Visa Oshwal Auditorium in Parklands this weekend. Entry is Sh800.

Mfalme at Skyluxx

Skyluxx Lounge in Westlands and Ace Cards Entertainment host the Tripple Threat party tonight and the Get Lucky party with DJ Joe Mfalme tomorrow night.
