An Argentine football player got the biggest shock of his life last week after fans stripped him in the middle of the game, due to poor performance.
Elias Di Biasi of Sportivo Italiano, a third-tier team in Argentina, lost his kit to three goons who stormed the pitch during the second-half of the game, according to Metro Sports.
“At the beginning I was going to try and fend them off, but they were three of them,” said Di Biasi. The player was handed another kit and the game continued but the pain and shame he had suffered at the hands of the goons haunted him as he played.
“He remained red-faced throughout the game. Things worsened when his team eventually lost three-nil,” notes Metro Sports. Argentina is one of the best sporting countries in the world, with the nation having reached the final of the World Cup in Brazil this year, but hooliganism is rife.
Players have been stripped in the country before, and certainly, this will not be the last time. If the same thing were to happen here, I wonder which team's fans are likely to behave in such a barbaric manner.
