Tata rides ahead in Kenya with new Prima trucks

NAIROBI: India's leading commercial vehicles manufacturer, Tata Motors has launched six new Prima models in the local market in partnership with Tata Africa holding Kenya Ltd.

Head of International Business for Commercial Vehicles, Rangan Wasan said the launch of the Prima truck models in Kenya is an important milestone in Tata Motors continued expansion in the Kenyan market and the East Africa region.

"As one of the major players in the EA region, we are committed to shaping the commercial vehicle industry here with the latest global technologies giving the Kenyan customer competitive business advantages, with the trusted credentials of the Tata Motors brand," he added.

Mr Wasan said the new model shaped by technology, know-how and expertise with global standards of power, durability, payload, emissions and safety would enable customers upgrade to a new-age truck, whose development resulted from customer feedback. The vehicles are available in different trims, including multi-axle trucks, tractor-trailers and tippers.

Equipped with strong aggregates and a robust chassis frame and suspension, Wasan explained during the launch, the Tata Prima range can meet the highest operating standards under extreme conditions.

"Having been extensively tested to confirm with global standards, the next-generation range of Tata Prima commercial vehicles boasts outstanding material and build quality, comfort, driving dynamics and economy, and continues to offer advantages of a Tata Motors commercial vehicle of lowest total cost of ownership, he added during the launch in Nairobi.

With the launch Kenya joins the list of countries that are markets for Tata's Prima range that already includes UAE and Oman. The Middle East market joined the company's export list in March this year.
