CS Jacob Kaimeny challenges iUniversities to embrace ICT

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof Jacob Kaimenyi has challenged universities to incorporate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in all courses as the country moves towards knowledge-based economy.

Speaking during the second graduation ceremony of University of Kabianga since it was awarded a Charter, Kaimenyi called on universities to play a critical role of training students who are knowledgeable in ICT.

"Universities across the country must position themselves to take their rightful place by integrating ICT skills in all of their academic programmes," he said.

He also urged the institutions to explore ways of attracting revenue to supplement  government capitation.

The ceremony saw over 600 graduands awarded various degrees and diplomas.

The university's Chancellor Prof Richard Musangi said the institution had experienced rapid development since 2009, when it was a constituent college of Moi University.

He appealed to the government to increase support and funding so that it can continue growing.
