The UBA Kenya Board has appointed Isaac Mwige as the bank’s new Chief Executive Officer. “Mr Mwige becomes our first indigenous CEO and he brings to the bank a wealth of experience drawn from corporate and retail banking having worked in various capacities within East and West Africa,” said UBA Kenya Chairman Ngugi Kiuna.

“Mwige is a proven leader with results, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His vision for how UBA will be felt and experienced is exactly what we, as a board, need as we enter a new chapter of expanded product innovation and growth.”

On his part, Mr Mwige said: “The opportunity ahead for the bank is vast, but to seize it, we must focus clearly, move faster and continue to transform.” He said his big part is to accelerate the bank’s ability to bring innovative, practical and functional products to customers faster.

Mr Mwige joins UBA from Equity Bank, where he served as Director of Relationship Banking. Previously, he worked with Standard Chartered Bank as the Director, Transaction Banking, East and West Africa.
