Tana River Governor Hussein Dado has finally moved his close allies from the Finance and Procurement department, following sustained pressure from the public and members of the County Assembly.

The officers have always been accused of corruption and mismanagement for the last two years.

On Thursday, Dado and his county secretary Abdu Godana held a press conference and announced that he had transferred Finance executive Salim Mohamed to the Environment and Water department.

Said Bakero, the director of Finance and Planning was promoted to take over the docket.

Finance Chief Officer Boba Abdalla was also moved to Livestock and Fisheries department and his position taken by Roads Chief Officer Ahmed Barako. Dr Peter Mwamburi is now the new Roads Chief Officer.

Finance director Ngige Ndegwa will retain his position, deputised by Mohamed Korane.

Simon Tabu has been moved from the health accounts to head IFMIS.

Swalehe Simba, the Director of Procurement was transferred to the special programmes department, while Abdullahi Hantof of special programmes went to cohesion.

Issa Berhe becomes the acting director of procurement, while Issa Digale is now the head of revenue services, to be deputised by Frankfeit Daido.

Conelius Wamukoya, formerly the principal accountant, now heads budget planning, while Osman Bosharo will be the deputy finance director. 

The governor said that he made the changes to streamline services and ensure efficiency and proper work in the two departments, which he said have been a stumbling block to the smooth running of county affairs.
