A candidate sat her first Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination from hospital hours after giving birth through a Caesarean section yesterday.

The student from Madogo Secondary School in Tana River County wrote her English paper from a local clinic where she was admitted.

Yesterday, Coast Region Education Co-ordinator Dickson ole Keis said that the girl, whose age was not given, had been taken to the local hospital on Sunday but was taken into theatre when she developed complications.

Mr Keis said arrangements had been made to have the girl sit the exam from hospital without any hitches.

He said 36,934 students in Coast region were registered to sit their KCSE exams, which began yesterday.
