A case by residents seeking to halt a Sh2.5 billion property development project by the county government has been referred to the Land and Environment Division court.

High Court judge Francis Gikonyo said the case was of public interest. The residents have sued the county government, Governor Peter Munya and land official Martin Bikuri, claiming the 15-storey Meru Rising Towers was conceived and executed without adequate public participation and approval by the county assembly.
