CORD leaders tell Senator Mike Sonko off

NAIROBI: CORD leaders have told Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko not to advise the coalition on how to pick its presidential candidate.

Instead, the leaders accused Mr Sonko of being an agent of political destruction, adding that he was out to divide the coalition.

The leaders, John Mbadi (Suba), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Opondo Kaluma (Homa Bay Town), Daniel Maanzo (Makueni) and Jessica Mbalu (Kibwezi East) welcomed Sonko's thoughtful move to the coalition but not with conditions.

Mr Mbadi, who is also the Orange Democratic Movement chairman, said Sonko's statements should be dismissed with the contempt they deserved, adding that the flamboyant lawmaker should first join the coalition and make his contributions as a member. "A member of Jubilee cannot dictate to us how to pick our presidential candidate. We have our ways of picking a flag-bearer," said Mbadi.
