Mother of all weddings: KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion marries sweetheart

Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has been quite fiery about matters affecting teachers. But very little is known about his private life, which he has managed to keep off public scrutiny.

Away from his responsibilities as Knut Sec Gen, Sossion is a doting father to his three children, his eldest being a graduate of law. His wife died about five years ago and Sossion was earlier quoted as saying that his priority is to raise his three children single-handedly.

“I’m a stickler for time keeping. If I have appointments, I honour them. If it’s time to be home, I’ll be home,” he told a daily paper in a recent interview.

The 47-year-old is set to tie the knot with his fiancée, Vivianne Kenduiywa in an elaborate ceremony to be held at the Attorney-General’s Chambers in Nairobi.

Thereafter, the couple will host a lavish reception at his home in Motigo, Bomet County.

Officials from all Knut branches in the country, including bigwigs at the union’s headquarters have been invited for the reception party. Also invited are officials from the rival Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET). This will be Sossion’s second marriage after he lost his first wife in 2010 to a road accident.

Earlier, the former teacher of Tenwek High School said he was waiting on God for a life partner.

“I don’t know if I will remarry,” he had said, adding that, “I have been too busy with work and raising my three children. I leave everything in God’s hands. If He sees it fit to bless me with a partner, that will be well and good.”
