Governor Jack Ranguma issues Sh70m bursary to Kisumu students

Kisumu County Government has disbursed bursary cheques worth Sh70 million to 10,000 students from its six sub-counties.

Governor Jack Ranguma has issued Sh11.8 million to Kisumu East County, where 2,138 students benefited. Of the beneficiaries, 1,162 were secondary school students who got Sh8.3 million. Sh1.8 million was allocated university students.

 Those in college, special schools, driving schools and youth polytechnics received Sh1 million, 187,600, Sh422,000 and Sh90,000 respectively. Mr Ranguma said this is part of his pledge to ensure all students, regardless of their backgrounds access education.

The governor has also initiated a scholarship programme, currently sponsoring 230 poor students in national schools. The county has also constructed 100 Early Childhood Development Education centres and recruited over 700 teachers.
