The national government will build three mega dams in arid and semi-arid areas in Meru County, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has announced.

Speaking when he toured various water projects, Wamalwa said Jubilee Government is committed to fulfilling its election pledge of ensuring residents have water for domestic and commercial use.

Three dams will be constructed along the Thingithu, Kianjuri and Thangatha rivers.

“I am in Meru for three days to look into your water issues because we want to ensure you have enough water for irrigation, domestic and other uses. We understand your water problems as presented to the ministry by your leaders,” Wamalwa said.
